Art Exhibition
In 2021, after a significant slowdown in COVID-19 transmissions, politicians attempted to downplay the critical contributions of essential workers to continue business as usual and pass corporate-friendly laws harmful to workers. To combat that, Workers Defense collaborated with an artist to create an installation inside the Texas Capitol that paid tribute to the many workers who died during COVID-19. The installation, composed of artwork created by workers and their families, gave onlookers, including lawmakers who walked by it daily, a glimpse of who essential workers are beyond their labor. I photographed several pieces and included them in eye-catching social media graphics to promote and show the different pieces that would make up this installation. I also released sneak peeks of the exhibit to foster excitement. Although the work wasn't complex, this was one of my favorite projects because of the members' involvement and the artistic expression involved.
