Rest Break Campaign
After Texas Republicans repealed a rest break ordinance mandating 15-minute breaks every four hours for construction workers in Austin and Dallas, Workers Defense and allies banded together to pressure Governor Abbott to add a rest break bill to a special session. Through the campaign and an in-person action at the Governor's Mansion, we drove hundreds of letters to his office. Due to the campaign, we laid the crucial narrative groundwork and supporters to continue the campaign to pass a statewide heat prevention bill.
